Recent News!!!!
There will be a meeting at Fort Randolph on Saturday July 5th for anyone interested in forming the new Arbuckle’s Company. We will be discussing how to form the new unit and how we will portray actual members of the company.
From Dicey:
This is a poem about Rebecca Boone written by an award winning poet in Kentucky named Betsy Packard.
You bet I packed up,
I have started a project to help out the Fort. With the help of Craig and the other committee members we are going to have a raffle to help the Fort. As of this date, here is what we hope to have and have had people commit to: a 1770 style flintlock rifle, a hunting pouch, a horn, a knife and a noggin. Anyone who would like to help in this project and have a period item they would like to donate, please contact me at j.casto934@comcast.net or 304-543-3300. I would like to have your comments on this. I will keep you informed as we progress.

FORT LEE SCOUTS
NEWSLETTER MAY/JUNE 2008
Ed: gil casto volume 5 edition: 5/6
Greeting to all and I hope you are having a great start to the season for our hobby. I know I have. The Gathering and the Siege was great, met old friends and new ones. Old lady Bane was in her glory and meanness.
Fort News: The Siege went well, no one got hurt and I think the crowd loved the battle. Not as many people this year, but with the price of gas who can blame them, I know that it has curtailed my trips. The new improvements at the Fort were great. Charlie Bradley did a great job on building the new blacksmith shop, I know his wife helped a lot and I as a committee member really thank them for a great job. Cabin floors, I would like to finish building the cabin floors and could use some help. Anyone wanting to help, please contact me so we can work out the details. I don’t think it will take too long of time, maybe one Saturday or weekday. Natives of the Point weekend is coming up, check their web site or the Point Pleasant Tourism site for more details. The first Saturday in June, the Scouts are generally at the Fort, but this time I don’t know how many will be able to go due to the gas prices.
Dicey’s Corner
May was a busy month for us. First of all, I want to thank everyone for coming to the Frontier Gathering. In spite of the rain, we had a grand time, as always.....even if someone fell to “pieces”. Thanks to Brenda for the wonderful photos. If you didn’t make it, we had a short meeting to decide if we would do a “weekend” or just a “day trip” next year...since the school groups can’t come anymore and most of the scout groups can only come on saturday. It was decided to try a “day trip” next year on Saturday. We’ll see what kind of response we get and go from there.
On to the Seige...what a great turnout! Surprises were in store for Shorty (snicker) to celebrate their 35 yrs of marriage. John proposed to her again, and yep, we had us a wedding. Their entire family was there. Her dad got to walk her down the aisle (singing). Joe Dobbs played the music, and Mike Little performed the service..twas grand...and of course it rained. Our thanks to all our folks for participating. We want to welcome some new members to our merry little group, Mary Jo Martin and Eli and Cindi Crowe. We hope to see you at more events. Well, that’s about all from my cabin.
Till next time, I remain YH& never OS
Till the next time our paths cross or our camp fires meet,
Yours truly, bucktale :Gil Casto, 543-3300 or j.casto934@comcast.net
